PROUD TO ASSIST URBAN ANGELS
As Christmas approaches, we remember those who do not have a place to live or food to eat. This year, we hope to make a significant difference in the lives of those in most need.
With the holiday season upon us, the PacFood team has given two industrial refrigerators to a fantastic organisation called Urban Angels, which provides food to those sleeping rough and those in need.
Urban Angels Community Kitchen is a “platform for bringing the community together, as well as generating and delivering a ready stock of healthy frozen meals for persons in need.”
Urban Angels aims to meet the challenge of making good-quality meals for those who experience illness, trauma, or another substantial obstacle. When going through a crisis, many will know how the simple gift of a meal lifts your spirits and means there is one less thing on your to-do list.
But it is not just those who receive meals who benefit.
Studies have shown that individuals who do the most for others are happy and healthiest. Community Kitchen volunteers and donors are truly thankful for the opportunity to give back to their communities.
Participation in Community Kitchen also increases” social capital”, both for those who receive and for those who give. Our volunteers find the common interest in contributing to their communities has resulted in meaningful relationships. Helping out together means new friendships are forged, new skills gained, and people become more involved in their communities.
These fridges were well received, and Pacfood is delighted to be able to help such a great neighbourhood organisation this holiday season.
